So today started off with a free breakfast at the hostel. There's nothing like a free meal to start the day off right. Then we hopped on a bus to visit the London Bridge. To be honest, the London Bridge was a little bit of a disappointment... it was just a bridge. Even so, Ying and I skipped across it singing "London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down..." Just down the Thames River was the Tower Bridge. Much more impressive. We explored that a bit and then we wandered around the area some more. We found a "beach" randomly along the river, though calling it a beach is somewhat debatable. It was a 5 foot by 3 foot area of sand on the water. Anyway, I was entertained. We of course had to go down and play in the sand. After that, we ate some fish and chips (of course) at a local restaurant on the river. You can't go to London and not have fish and chips. Though apparently asking for hot sauce is uncommon. Huy asked the waiter for some hot sauce and he just looked at Huy and asked what hot sauce was. Interesting. I also found out I have a secret love for tea with milk and honey. Who knew hot tea could be so amazing? Anywho, after lunch we took a boat down the Thames River to Big Ben and Parliament. It was cool to cruise down the river. We saw the London Eye (it's a very big ferris wheel) and then we got a better look at Big Ben and Parliament. The architecture was just amazing. I can't get over how intricate it is. And it's huge. Pictures just can't do it justice. I also enjoyed the architecture of Westminster Abbey, which we also saw. We took a double decker bus back to the area near our hostel. We sat on the top level and it was completely awesome! I think we should get double decker buses on campus. They make traveling so much more enjoyable. Back at our hostel, we hung out and played some games and found some cheap burgers to eat for dinner. Unfortunately, there was a possible mouse sighting by Ying in our room. I am throughly creeped out.
Well, that's all I've got for now.
Ciao.
yes, it was completely necessary to write in the sand on the beach.
the london bridge. it was much more exciting at night when it was lit up by red lights...
